Husband, Father, Protector and Woodworker

About Me

Hi, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Jon Erickson, and I now live in Huntsville, Alabama working as a Defense Contractor. I recently retired from the military (Army) back in 2014, and followed some friends advice to move out to Alabama and start on my second career.

My relationship with woodworking began back in a Southern Oregon High School Woodshop class. I really enjoyed working with my hands and creating things that I thought were rather nice. That abruptly ended the day I raised my right hand and swore to protect this great country of ours against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Mostly due to not having enough time to get back into woodworking, but also not really staying in one spot for very long lead me to not really picking up any woodworking tools.

Fast forward some 20 plus years later, and here I am, moving to a state that I have never lived in before and my first new job in over 20 years! I was a little shocked at first, but then everything just started falling into place. I thank the man upstairs for this! One of the best things to "fall into place" was meeting the love of my life, my beautiful wife Mary Erickson. Shortly after meeting her, I found myself on bended knee asking her to share the rest of her life with me, and shockingly enough she said yes!!

We commissioned Jonathan and O Dark Thirty Woodworks to create a bookshelf headboard and hutch for our daughter's dorm room. After searching for months for an affordable & quality option, a neighbor referred me to Jonathan. From the initial contact, he took our needs into consideration and came up with the perfect solution to our situation. The pieces came out great and the quality was top notch. O Dark Thirty Woodworks was easy to work with and produced a quality product in a very short turnaround period. If you are looking for an honest, trustworthy, and dependable woodworker in Huntsville, look no further. I would highly recommend their services. Thanks again Jonathan for a wonderful experience.
